At Watershed, we are building a better world with the help of everyday people one issue at a time. Watershed is an issue campaign run by Common Ground volunteers with the goal of designing creative solutions to real and present water problems. We’re tackling water issues big and small. Watershed is more than just activists; we’re your neighbors, who live, work and play in greater Milwaukee — all fighting to ensure better water becomes our reality.

Working side by side

Our aim is to improve both water availability and quality- and we’ve got a plan. We’re identifying issues we can tackle and working with the entire community (especially people like you) to create effective solutions that do more than put a Band-Aid on the problem.

Closer than you think.

Water issues are real, and they’re in your backyard. Next time you walk by Lake Michigan, think about how it’s a source of water so accessible you can experience it with all five senses. Water dilemmas are literally that close to home.

It affects you now.

Low quality water is the here and now. It’s not something that might happen decades down the road, and it’s impacting more than just what you pour into a glass. Your health, sanitation, food and fun are all affected by water quality.

High quality water is more than the dream of the conservationists, more than a political slogan; high quality water, in the right quantity at the right place at the right time, is essential to health, recreation, and economic growth. Of all our planet’s activities ... no force is greater than the hydrologic cycle.
